‘De Vrouw Catharina’ is a beautiful 53 ft Dutch ‘Tjalk’ barge with residential mooring at Canary Wharf London. Built in 1909 and converted to live aboard in 1953 – more recently being extensively refitted in 2012 and comprising of new kitchen, bathroom & bedroom with all service equipment being replaced (wiring, plumbing, water heater, pumps, water & waste tanks). ‘Catharina’ provides a lovely characterful living space in a quiet marina just minutes walk from Canary Wharf tube station & DLR.
The interior benefits from a bespoke fitted kitchen finished to a very high standard with all modern conveniences (gas hob & oven, built in microwave, integrated fridge, under floor tile heating & wooden worktops). The bathroom is a generous size, boasting a full size bath & electric flushing toilet. A storage area under front deck conceals a washing machine and freezer appliances.
The rear deck provides seating for up to 6 people. The awning (replaced in 2012) can be rolled up or fully removed allowing deck to be used as inside or outside space depending on the weather.
