Thames Sailing Barge ‘Melissa’ registered in the port of London in 1899. Owned for 30 years by the infamous barging / boatbuilding family the Webb’s of Pin Mill.
In 'as new' condition after a 10 year total rebuild with 10mm thick hull, new masts, spars, rigging and winches, Melissa has new twin 89hp engines making her easy to handle. Any inspection is welcome; there are no Thames barges in this good of condition.
Set out as a traditional charter barge with a large bar and party space her modern toilets and commercial kitchen make this an easy event space to run. Currently certified for 12 passengers at sea if the new owner wished they could have a 45 passenger ticket for one the of the rivers or use her as a commercial space or venue.
There are berths available in South Dock, London (SE16 7SZ) where she is currently moored with parking and marine facilities or in Pin Mill, Suffolk (IP9 1JW) with a residential address.
Should the new owners require conversion or ongoing maintenance this can be provided at very reasonable rates. A barge in this condition is easy to maintain and would make an amazing office or houseboat.
There is finance available based on a good credit score and 50% deposit.
Huge amount of history, photos, awards and cups available.
